2019 USA FIT Houston Winter Marathon and Half Marathon Training Program

Welcome to the 30th season of USA Fit Houston. We are Houston’s premier marathon and half-marathon training program. Ask anyone who has trained with us; there is nothing like running or walking a marathon or half marathon.

Fall and Fall/Winter Registration: If you are interested in training with the Houston Fit fall group, please click on Fall Registration to register. Do not fill out the registration form below as that is for Winter Registration only!

You will be fit, happy, and mentally strong. USA Fit Houston offers you the opportunity to train with people who are just like you! It doesn’t matter if this is your first Half Marathon or your 26th Marathon - you will find the members and coaches of USA Fit Houston will inspire and guide you to the finish line! Who knows - you may be the one to inspire us.

We will not only train for Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Half-Marathon we also train for many other local races such as; USA Fit Marathon and Ft. Bend Kia Half-Marathon, Kingwood Marathon and Half-Marathon, Surfside Beach Marathon and Half-Marathon, Galveston Marathon and Half-Marathon, Austin Marathon & Half Marathon and various others.

The 2019 Winter Training Program is a 26 week training program that will help you train for your target race(s). This year, the Marathon and Half Marathon groups will begin with orientation on July 11th at Fleet Feet at 6590 Woodway from 7 - 9 pm, then a 3 mile and 2.5 mile distance respectively on Saturday from Memorial park on July 13th, 2019.

Advanced Training Program (ATP): ATP, has been a part of USA FIT for many years and continues to make advances in assisting runners with their goal of qualifying for the Boston Marathon and/or in reducing marathon and half marathon finish time. The core training philosophy embodied in this program emphasizes quality over quantity.The schedule takes you through a progression of general, special, specific, and explosive strength training with an intense focus on the demands of marathon running. The workouts are more advanced; therefore participants are required to have completed a marathon or half marathon before starting.

Traditional Marathon and Half Marathon Group (13:44-): Marathon and Half-Marathon participants should be able to complete a 3 mile distance running or walking at a comfortable 13 minutes 44 seconds per mile or faster. Both the Marathon and Half-Marathon programs offer a training style to meet your needs. These styles include a 5/1 group (5 minutes running and 1 minute walking, 10/1 group (10 minutes running and 1 minute walking) and an "all run" group (continuous running, no walking).

Purple Marathon and Half Marathon Group (13:45+): This group consists of joggers and walkers that can complete a 3 mile distance at paces from 13 minutes and 45 seconds and up. This is a lower intensity training program for those of you who wish to train to walk or jog a half-marathon or marathon.

Training Start Date - Our first day of training will be on Saturday, July 13th, on N. PICNIC LANE, at Memorial. Be sure to wear your running/walking gear! We will begin our run after a short orientation by Denis Calabrese, founder of USA FIT.

REFER A FRIEND PROGRAM – If you are a returning member and you refer a new member, you will receive a $10 discount on your membership fee. When your new friend(s) register, just have them enter YOUR name in the field: “If you were referred by a Houston Fit member, please give us that member's name." At the close of registration, if your name is listed, you will receive a $10 refund on the credit card you registered with.
